Winter Scouting
With the hunting season behind us, as a guide we have to keep scouting. Every year we do head counts and go to our food plots to see what made it through the season. It gives us a good number to know how many hunters to book the next year.
This time of year is a great time to pick up sheds and get a good doe to buck ratio for the new season. I know the season is over but by going to these food plots you will also gain knowledge for next year. After watching these deer feed for 10 nights in a row we counted over 180 deer in the field at one time and picked up over 26 sheds. It also lets us know that there were at least 9 deer we did not know about that were in the B&C range. One shed we found had 98 inches on it and weighed 8 1/2 pounds. Now we know what we are hunting this year.
Start Scounting when the season ends.
