Youth Rabbit Hunt on February 22

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and the Great Plains Houndsmen Club will sponsor a youth rabbit hunt on Saturday, Feb. 22 at Osage Wildlife Management Area near Tecumseh.

Participants must be Nebraska Hunter Education graduates between the ages of 11 - 17 years and must have their Hunter Education card on their person the day of the hunt. Parents are welcome to attend, but will not participate.

The event will be 9 a.m. - around 2 p.m. Activities will include instruction in dog handling, biology and hunting tips. An experienced hunter will accompany each participant on an actual cottontail hunt which will include hunting with a pack of beagles. The hunt will last about two hours. There is no fee for the event and lunch will be provided, but each participant must bring their own shotgun and ammunition.
