Interested deer hunters still have time to purchase a first, second, or third license for North Dakota's 2002 deer gun season, according to Carrie Whitney, State Game and Fish Department licensing supervisor.

Hunters with second and third doe licenses can use them during the archery season with a bow; the deer gun season with a bow, rifle, or muzzle-loader; or during the muzzle-loader season with a muzzle-loader. These licenses must be used for antlerless deer only, and hunters must stay in the unit to which the license is assigned.

As of Monday, Oct. 21, more than 5,000 antlerless licenses were still available in 17 units. First come, first serve applications are available at all county auditors offices and game and fish offices. Hunters can also print out an application at the game and fish internet website, discovernd.com/gnf.

The regular deer gun season begins at noon Nov. 8 and continues through Nov. 24. Residents and nonresidents are eligible to apply.

Hand delivered applications will not be processed at the department while the applicant waits.
