A couple from Artesia pleaded guilty to illegal possession of big game Jan. 21 in Chaves County Magistrate Court in response to charges filed by Game and Fish Officer Andy Gray. Gray found a Barbary sheep in the back of their truck during the late November deer hunt near Roswell.

In a plea bargain, Tommy Fulton, 45, and his wife Jolynn, 33, pleaded guilty to illegal possession and each was fined $500 and $51 in court costs. Jolynn Fulton also pleaded guilty to hunting without a valid license and was fined an additional $100, which was suspended. She faces the loss of hunting and fishing privileges for up to three years and civil damages of $250 for the state's loss of the wild animal.
