One of the most important dates for hunters is rapidly approaching.

June 10 is deadline day and the Arizona Game and Fish Department is urging hunters to take advantage of an easy-to-use Internet process to submit big game hunt permit applications at

"Last year half of the applications we received were submitted through the department's Web site and we're on pace to exceed that this year," says public information officer Rory Aikens. "Most hunters really like the advantages of applying online."

Those advantages include the piece of mind in knowing that an error-free application has been submitted, not having to travel to drop an application off at a department office or the post office and submitting the application from the comfort of a home or office.

"The online system walks an applicant step-by-step through the process and corrects any errors before it's accepted," says Aikens.

Regardless of the method used to submit the application, hunters must get it to the department by 7 p.m. on deadline day.

"Postmarks don't count, but all department offices as well as the Web site will accept applications until 7 p.m.," says Aikens.
