Any of you get a tag?
I put in for one didn't draw maybe next year.
Clearwaterart, I know what you mean. My family came up short this year but maybe next year will be the year.
I drew here in Washington State, 1 in 1,500 odds, for my unit. I've been putting in for about 8 years. I read the article on this forum and gained some useful tips. Any other advice would be helpful. The tag is once in a lifetime so I've got to get my research done. Anyone else out there from Washington that's hunted the Naches/Corral Pass area before? Anyone else from Washington with a tag? Love to hear from anyone on this subject.
Thanks,
Dean
pre64270, Welcome to BGH.
Congratulations on your incredible draw.
My advice would to get up there as often as you can and scout, scout and scout. Try to get know every goat in your area, find out everything you can about them. Where they like to water, feed and bed. I hope you have a great hunt and kill a big, mature Billy.
Good luck. I hope you get a big one!
Pre64270, When is your goat hunt?
I drew Bumping River-356 for this year. Anyone seen goats in that area?

Mtn Hunter, Welcome to BGH! What state or Province is Bumping River-356 in?
I put up some pics under `Goat Lovers' of some goats in The `Goat Rocks Wilderness' of WA state. When I lived in WA we put in for the Goat Rocks and around Lake Chelan. My impression is that if we would have ever got drawn - we would have enormous country with enormous elevation gains to scout and eventually have to hunt - especially around Lake Chelan. Do some google searches with mountain goat, Naches, Bumping River as key words. You might also do well to call the Forest Service Ranger District in charge of your area. Don't start out by saying you have a tag and want to `kill one'. Perhaps `where are people seeing goats?' or something like that. Spending some money doing some long distance phone calls might save you gas money and a lot of time and hiking. You might see if one of the state universities has some masters theses on goats in WA state, or something of the like. And, of course, check with the game dept to see if they will disclose kill locations.
And let us know how you do, with pics.
Bumping River is on the East slope of the Cascade Mountains in Washington, in the rain shadow of Mt. Rainier. Thanks for the tips Serious Hunter. I wish I had drawn Goat Rocks, I know that area well, but hard to complain with any goat tag in your pocket. Anyone familiar with what trails are good for stock in this unit?
