I remember long ago when I was in high school and wanted to go hunting.  The coaches told me that I had to choose one or the other since both didn't work out too well due to seasons.  Well, I got lucky since the football games were on a Friday night and I could still go hunting on Saturday and Sunday.  Even when I was playing basketball and the games were on Saturday I made it to the game after hunting in the morning.  In the long run a person need to figure out what is the most important thing for them to do.  But one thing you can tell you boy is that sports don't last forever but being out in the field and hunting can. 

Neither of my kids participated in sports too much other than a couple of seasons of hickey for my son when he was only 11 and 12. It cut into our hunting a little but we worked it out and now the only thing that gets in the way is work. Fortunately I make my own schedule and also have the most seniority at my job so can usually get what I need. I rarely take weekends off so when I do need them no one complains as I give them to everyone else the rest of the year.

My sons work schedule is a little tougher but I adjust mine to line up with his when needed. All in all I have been very fortunate when it comes to having the time needed. I just don't make enough money to use the time to the best advantage.
