I mean, what do you do to occupy your time during the time you're waiting for draw results? It's difficult to justify many scouting missions when the draw is uncertain for me, so what do you do? Do you have any specific shooting drills, do you scout anyway, shed hunt, hike, fish, turkey hunt, etc?
What's your spring thing?
Turkey hunting, playing softball, coaching my kids soccer team, and general stuff.
Since pig hunting is year round, I'd like to do that more, but it costs some good $$$$$ if you don't have a hookup or can't find them on public land.
Well this spring so far has been really busy with my kids's baseball and soccer, but i like to get out and scout different areas, also like to look for back up spots if i cant make the trip all the way over to eastern oregon for my normal hunts, I also set up my trail cam, scout my late season deer areas. shed hunt, and go fishing whenever time allows. I shoot my bow daily, if not at the range then at niht in my livingroom when my kids go to bed. go through all my gear making sure its all up to par, and replace whatever needs to be replaced, then during the summer months its spent scouting and camping with the kiddos.
You need to take up turkey hunting and ice fishing. That along with a quail and javelina hunt in Arizona will take up quite a bit of your time. Also you will then have the hunting license to put in for the draws in Arizona.
Right now I am starting to build up some loads for a antelope hunt this year and some nice heavy loads for my .340 Wheatherby for a grizzly bear hunt next year. Since I retired I sometimes wonder how I ever got anything done while I was working. There never is enough time to get everything done even now.
I have gone shed hunting a couple times but not found anything yet. It's time to do a lot of shooting now that it's starting to warm up some. I use a .22 mostly but it really makes a difference in your confidence later.
Go through my safe and make sure everything is clean and oiled for the year. I sold an unreliable gun the other day so I traveled all the shops in the valley today looking for something to replace it with. Probably another Ar but could go with something else before I decide.
A couple more weeks and I'll be getting the boat ready, should have a few fishing trips in before the draw results come out.
For me I shoot my bow and rifles alot...practice...practice....practice. I also like to go camping with the family...along with some fly fishing from my belly boat. I am still trying to figure out how to fly fish a river and keeping my fly out of the trees.
For what state? Colorado's should be out in June
