This is important info. for anyone flying CanJet. Two of my friends and I booked tickets from Montreal to Deer Lake Newfoundland for a Moose/Caribou hunt this October. Before booking we checked on firearms transportation, and it was the same as other airlines, no problem. Today, I called the airline to check the legality if a particular gun case. It turns out the case is OK, but, during the conversation ammunition was mentioned, and I discovered they DO NOT allow amo. on any of their planes. I spoke to a supervisor, who was very nice, but stated that is their policy. Her solution was for us to buy amo. in Deer Lake when we arrived. I explained that I custom load my own, but it didn't make any difference. Since our tickets are not refundable, we are trying to find a way to deal with the situation. I'm sure we'll figure something out, but it sure puts a bit of a damper on what is a trip of a lifetime.
Shame on me for not asking in advance, but, I've flown several other Airlines, including Air Canada, and ammunition is permitted. I hope this prevents some others from having the same problem.
