There have been 3 bald eagles shot in the last two months. I have personally seen these beautiful birds flying the rivers around my home for the last three winters. It was always a joy to see them. Now some idiot has gone around and shot them. :x What would posess a person to shoot an eagle?
i've known (ignorant) kids to do it. i grew up along the mississippi, so it happened once in a while....sometimes people think that it'd be neat to have one stuffed too.
i hope they catch who ever it is

If I were hunting with someone and they shot a bald eagle, they would go missing.

Yes!!!
they may be our national symbol but all they really are is a buzzard with a white head, most of thier diet is carrion based and they are not endagered any more, the only reason they have a protected status now is because they are our national symbol, personally i believe the Grizzly is a much more fitting symbol for the USA!
eagle, grizzly, wolf, cougar.....all are better choices than the turkey, IMO

They should be protected since they are the most awesome bird on our continent and anyone that would shoot one is a true jackass.
Go back to the orgional post and remove the word "Eagle" or "Bald Eagle's" and insert your favorite game animal. OOP'S!!!!!!!! You sound like an animal right's activist. Personnally I don't know why anyone would shoot one unless it was causing problem's. I mean, they're probally not good to eat, I wouldn't want one hanging on my wall, they're not digging hole's for cow's to step into and they're not killing any calves or lamb's I'm aware of. Those that do, I'm sure are shot with a very quiet gun!
If I found out about any farmers or ranchers shooting them I would turn them in.
I understand were your coming from. I don't know that an eagle can carry off a lsmb and certainly not a calf, but some say they can. In which case, like it or not they will get shot. If it's true that they can carry off a lamb or even kill one, then I guess the reasoning for killing one depend's on who own's the lamb.
But the point of my post was not that. It was that the origonal post sounded just like an animal right's activeist. I also understand were he's coming from. I've got a small place in central Oregon and I get a lot of quail and a few phesant's. Also used the get some hun's. Lot's of deer in my yard too but, you can't shoot any of them here, I like to look at them. I don't shoot them here, I LIKE TO LOOK AT THEM!!!!!!!!!! Guess there's a little animal right's activeist in all of us. Just depend's on where we want to draw the line.
