There is something just wrong

There is something just wrong with this.  Sitting in a deer stand and on the internet at the same time, that's just wrong.  I'm lucky to be able to get cell coverage where I hunt not to even think about internet.

What you should of done is

What you should of done is taken a nap and then for sure that 10 pointer would of showed up and gave you the heha.  I know that sitting in one place all day can get a little boreing unless you are seeing something and it sounds like you are at least seeing some kind of animals.

I know that last month when I was elk hunting I sat under a tree for the whole day watching elk move around on the hill that I was watching.  My only problem was that they didn't move the way that I wanted them to.

Back home now.  Ate

Back home now.  Ate enchiladas my wife made, plus some wal mart chicken and my belly is full.  Got in the stand at 7 am this morning and got out of it at 6:45 pm.  Saw three does, one young buck that might have been a tall six pointer.  Saw him 5 minutes after legal light so it was hard to make out his rack.  Then I saw a one-antlered forkie at 5:30 and a couple of flocks of turkeys.  Then about 6:30 I decided to call it a day, put my arrow back in the quiver and was getting ready to tie my bow off to lower it down when a little spike buck came in.

I decided to practice on him.  So I re-nocked the arrow and then waited for a time to draw.  It took a while for him to look the other way and then I drew.  Then I had to hold my draw for about 5 minutes for the kill shot.  Once he presented what would have been the shot I would have taken I let the arrow down, removed it and put it back into the quiver all undetected.

Finally he left and so did I.

The first doe I saw today was a shooter and I might have taken her if the buck didn't come in at the same time, but from a different direction.  He didn't pay any attention to her.  The second doe I was considering taking but when the third when came in they ran off before I could get a shot.

So all in all it was a long, but good day.  Saw another rub and scrape near my stand so it looks to be heating up.

Well it sounds like it was a fairly eventful day. And you are making me hungry with all this talk of mexican food. Good luck on your next trip into the woods and hopefully you will get one. Hold out for a big one.

Yeah, I plan to hold out, but

Yeah, I plan to hold out, but darn it is hard for me.  I want to shoot a deer.  I was ready to shoot a doe yesterday, but didn't get the opportunity.  It was even hard to resist the little forky that was under my stand.  I guess, it is partly because even though I am holding out for a big rack, it is not the rack that really matters to me.  It is getting an animal with my bow and putting meat in the freezer.

Sure I can buy beef at the grocery store to eat, but it is not the same as eating game I killed and put in the freezer myself.

  I love it.  I am not a huge fan of all these advances, but I think it's pretty cool that we can do these updates from the stand.

Keep them up!  Good luck!

I am going out again Wed. but

I am going out again Wed. but probably won't post from the stand.  I will only do a morning hunt so less time to get bored. And with the rut heating up, I don't want to lose my focus.  But I'll post when I get back, especially if I get something.
