I can't stand running, so I hit the stairmaster, or actually go out and try and hike some of the local mountains.  for year, my job was running all around the mountains chasing people, so I kept in pretty decent hiking shape.  However, I have since gotten a desk job, so I have slowed a little....

While I don't run since I have a couple of bad knees I do have some hills within 5 minutes that I start to hike as soon as the snow and mud is off of them.  I have a 5 mile route that I can usually do in an hour or two depending on if I am just starting off in the spring or finishing up in the fall.  Also in the fall I am usually packing a pack along with a rifle just to get used to them and practice my shooting while hiking. 

I hate to run, but I run about 2-3 times a week in the off season and as the season draws closer I may double that.  You would think with the running I do at home and the running arouind I do at work I would lose weight.....just can't resist a good sweet snack here and there.

i hear you about running and hating it.  It is not the thing I'd like to do the most but it will keep me in hunting shape so I can enjoy hunting for years to come.
