Opinions on Bullets

I have been trying some different bullets and loads for my .270 recently and have found that the 150 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip shoots extremely well through my gun (1/2" 5 shot groups at 100yds). My question is what the limitations are for hunting with this bullet. I hunt for mule deer, antelope and black bear with the rifle. I have no doubt it is sufficient for antelope and smaller deer, but I'm interested in hearing some opinions on its ability to hold up on a big bear or large deer. I know there are other bullets out there that are designed for larger game, but so far they don't come close to shooting as well as this one does through my gun.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Can't help you on the ballistic tips, never used them myself, might check out the firearms area. There has been discussion about ballistic tips in the past that might be of use.

On a related note, have you tried Sierra bullets? Its been my experience that they shoot well and can sometimes work well in a rifle that isn't doing so well with other bullet/load settings.

Ballistic Tips are intended to open up quickly rather than penetrate deeply. Frankly, I wouldn't use them on bear. A bear has thick hair, thick hide, and lots of fat and muscle covering the vitals. You need penetration.

If you like Nosler bullets (and I like them very much) I would go for the Partitions and play with powder and charge to get the best load for my gun.

IMO, I'd say yes to antelope. Yes to muleys. No to bear, ballistic tips tend to break up on tougher game.
