Nice Article if the intention were to get " my hackles up "

I live 50 miles from Sheet Harbour going straight throught the Liscombe Game Santuary, which has been sprayed and clear cut to a degree that it is sickening.
Two years ago we drove from Sheet harbour to New Glasgow just after dark on a very dark,misty night and never seen one single deer. Before the "devastation" the same drive would have encountered at least thirty deer,just on the roadway.
Logging companies have "clear cut" right to the side of lakes and actually fell trees into the water. Bottle Brook Lake is an example.
One citizen representative on one of these socalled government committies who did a lot of fishing, worked at the local Evening News paper took photographs of the aforementioned Bottle Brook Lake and produced them at a committee meeting, and he was totally ignored. He quit this committee the next day. He told me this story personaly I'll provide his name address, phone number or escourt you right to his door if needed.
I don't know about the other "sanctuaries" but The Liscombe Game Sanctuary is nothing but a Disgrace to NovaScotia.

It is not a move to protect and promote animal numbers or habitat. It is a push for right wing animal rights and anti-hunting groups to not allow hunters in their areas. There was several areas in my neck of the woods that were coming off the list until the antis got their undies in a knot and petitioned the government until they withdrew the areas and re-established not hunting regulations. The reason they wanted it open is because those particular areas were over-populated and the animals were not as healthy. If it was about the animals, the groups would realize the benefit of having controlled hunts to get healthier animals.

Hammer 1 is absolutly right , the Liscomb game sanctury is a disgrace ..The government has developed wilderness areas where U can't even drive a bicycle into lakes because they cut up the ground and kill some plants If U have a crap your suposed to dig a hole so far from the trail and cover it over .They're consernrd about outboard motors on the lakes because of the gas and oil that could spill .Well what about all the empty oil jugs and 5 gallon hydrolic buckets left behind by logging companys i've also seen hydrolic hoses everywhere.this stuff is washed into the ground or into small streams and brooks and then into the lakes .What's wrong with this picture? I guess it's the white collared gov employees that don't have a GD clue what's going on beond the desk .<<<<<<

Well said. The same can be said on the south shore as well. We don't have enough politicians who are sportsmen/women to help in the process.

I agree. Our camp is on College Lake, near the northern tip of the sanctuary. I was up there scouting around this weekend...after being away for three years I could just about cry. All the regenerating clear-cuts have been sprayed to kill the emerging hardwoods in favour of the balsalms. I saw 1 fresh deer track all weekend. Some sanctuary ,)
