For the last 3 years our family {which streches} all across Wa state has came to the North ID elk woods. The first year they hunted hard in the Coeur d' Alene area. They have done quite well with a total of 6 elk for the first two years. On our terms thats pretty good for a bunch of Wa elk hunters beings Eastern Wa is a waste of time even going out elk hunting. Well year three rolled around and I finally get to become an elk hunter. We hunted out of a wall tent in the Lost creek area for 2 weeks and seen 3 elk the whole time. I seen two cows the second day we were there at the last light of the day; but cow season didn't open for another week :( Then the day before we left my Grandpa shot 700 yards across a canyon at a monster bull but turned up no good. I was wondering how well elk hunting went in other areas of Northern Idaho??? I am also going to throw a an Idea of what is the best elk gun for long shots such as this???
