My mind always wanders to the fine state of Maine, once hunting seasons roll around. I've only hunted bear the last couple years there and not hunted deer there for over 15 years now. If memory serves me right Maine normally has a 2 week(?) muzzle loader season starting in early December. I was wondering how the conditions were and how the hunting was during this year's late muzzle loader season. Still ongoing?

It is a good time to hunt here. Not a lot of people in the woods at that time. Most people give it up by the end of Nov..
This past blackpowder season was a bit wet. We had a lot of wind and rain.
Seems I've read several times that many have ended their year's hunting when the muzzleloader season rolls around. Do you all have good snow cover up there now? I even managed to get a few days in the woods down here with a skiff of snow! 
Yes we do have snow cover here at this time. The deer are already looking for food to keep them going. I try to help them out each year if I can find enough stuff to keep them going.

In NY the late season ends Tuesday, but tomorrow is my last day of hunting. I passed on 10 does today. It is unususla to see that many in the wooded hill country I hunt. Right here the conditions are good for deer. Only six inches of snow and days above freezing.
Today started the last 3 week segment of the Tennessee buck (and doe) rifle season. It also was the last weekend for Kentucky M/L.
I may not be out for a few days as you guys are wearing me out...LOL! But, I'll try to fill my two additional buck tags in Tn., no doubt.
I've always liked hunting around Christmas. Shot a deer on Christmas eve day a while ago and a couple on New Year's day to go along with my one Thanksgiving day buck.
Don't think Christmas day will ever happen though...LOL
