do you live in idaho? and are you set on hunting in this area?

no, don't live in idaho. I am a midwest missouri boy. I am not dead-set on this area, just looking for any area of good "big sky country" hunting. Thats why any info on some good mulie hunting for early october would be greatly appreciated.

Take my advise.... Hire Robby at wescout4u.com. Last year my friend and I hired him for a package in Wyoming because we hadn't hunted there before (we live in Idaho) but drew a tag in wyoming. For around $500 (package price not per hunter price, we could have as many hunters as we wanted) he went and scouted a place for us. He gave us maps, access points, camping locations, water sources, aerial photographs, and went and scouted it on a horses. We know how to hunt deer, but didn't have time to scout another state because I also had Nevada muleys for late season. In the last 5 years I'll bet he has killed 8-10 bucks over 29" in different states. Seriously!!!!! You cant find a better way to spend the money. On the wyoming hunt we did see other hunters but we also saw over 20 bucks a day. Don't set your heart on an area in a state you don't know. Let him do the work for you. The guy knows his Schmitt!!!!!! You definitely want to make sure he knows what your expectations are and please don't plan on a 30 incher. If you are reasonable you will come to Idaho and have a great hunt. He can help you if you want to backpack, camp out of a truck or rv, spike camp, hotel, whatever. thats definately an awesome deer. I know that i'm not having the expectations of going in and killing a 30" deer. My goal is just to have the opportunity to take a shooter buck. thanks for that info, and i will def. look him up.

call the Idaho F&G. they can tell you the best and most sucessful spots. they most likely have maps and info for a few dollars to show you where to go. get started a few days early and go on your own. $500 is way to much money to spend on an illegal outfitter or whatever you want to call them and is against the law.

It is legal in NM and a few other states to have a scouting business and charge to scout for hunters and get them set up before they get to their hunting spot. Are you sure what this guy is offering is illegal?

completely illegal..............this is basically guiding big game hunters and recieving compensation for it without being licensed and permitted for public federal lands and with the State doing business in.
Plus it is probably a rip-off, to say the least.

what if he lived in ID and had an ID busness license?
