Idaho's 2010 resident elk tag quotas go on sale July 10, 2010. They are first come first serve. Here is a link that will show you how many tags are for each unit and how many remain after they go on sale July 10, 2010.

How easy is it for a non-res to get a tag?
It's pretty easy. There are two units that have sold out already, the Selway Zone B tag and Dworshak Zone B Tag. All other zones have both A & B tags remaining. I don't remember the exact date without looking them up but for non resident they go on sale in December of 09 for the 2010 season. In years past some of the zones have sold out the first day they are open for sales. I'm not sure if it's the economy, wolves, or both that are keeping the sales down.... I would always recommend buying one asap if you know where you want to hunt and if you can plan your hunt that far ahead of time.
I'll have to look into it maybe for the 2012 season, I'm all booked up next year
And I thought I was a planner : ) The prices are right about the same as Oregon now for hunting out of state
I usally have rough hunting plans for 2 yrs out, I think its an ocd thing or atleast my wife thinks so.
OCD is not a bad thing unless you have to take medication for it
