Not many weeks left before the rainy season. Did you remember to care for your boots. Here's what I do...

Backyard Bootcare:

Pull your laces, measure and save.
Air hose the interior and exterior of the boot.
Brush all surfaces clear of debris.
Sponge wipe down if still soiled, let dry...
Check for Damage.
Take to a cobbler (shoe repair shop) if necessary.
Seal with a silicone type treatment. I have double layer leather boots. One light leather skin, over a heavy leather. I apply many applications of silicone, letting dry between coats. Pay special attention to all seams and stitchings. Also remember that many boots with sewn on or repaired soles have exposed thread thru the lug sole of the boot. Seal these exposed threads. Install new laces. Keep used laces in your hunt gear bag, in case of a breakage in the field. Personally, I do this a couple of times a year, but always way before I intend to hunt so that odors of curing sealant are long gone....

Buy, and keep a second pair of boots at camp. Switch from boot A to boot B every other day.

Nothing ruins a hunt quicker than soggy feet. Don't chance it.

Do this now, your time is limited. You do not want boots reeking of sealant for the hunt do you? I have seen guys try to seal their boots the night before they hunt. Give me a break!

Maybe I should just mind my own business......

Good idea indeed.
Many moons ago I used to cover the boots in Goose grease and put them in the oven , just a little warm, until the grease penetrated, I've done the same with vaseculine, but silicone is the answer today.
I'd always end up stepping in a 16 inch deep water hole with a water resistant twelve inch boot anyway.
