My buddy was scouting for elk last weekend and was watching a herd of elk in reprod (small christmas trees) the were bedded down at the botom next to a looging road. A truck came around the corner shot the lead bull a 6x5 and 2 cows. All he did was cut off the antlers backstraps and front legs. My buddy did not intrude because he did not want to get shot but got description of the truck and turned it in to the police. The man shot the elk and was out of the area in about 20min. I can see iff he needed meat and had to poach he could have just shot one big cow and taken the whole thing. I think it was very unsportsmanlike to shoot three elk and leave most of the meat.
