Hogs in Tennessee

My wife's cousin is in Knoxville and is not a hunter, more of a fisherman. He wants me to come down and pig hunt with him, but not knowing much about it (Me or Him) I was wondering were to start. Is there a better time of the year? I've looked on Tn dnr site, but I also thought somebody here could give me some tips. Can you Help?

I'm completely new to this also. Not into trophy hunting, in fact haven't done any hunting in years. Was wanting to get back into it a little starting with some wild pig. I live in middle Tennessee and want to know where I can start with something like this. I don't know where i can hunt, but i talked with a TWRA agent and he said they had good reports (bad for the land owners) down in wayne county around collinwood. I'm looking into it to try to load up my freezer. My biggest hobby is bbq and would LOVE to try some wild pig on the smoker. Any info would help. thanks
