Elk hunting in Oregon

I could use a bit of help. Hoping to hunt elk for the first time. I have 4 points for elk in Oregon. I am leaning towards some of the areas in the Northeast. I don't have any horses just a strong back and the patience to hunt all day. I don't have any atv's either. Not looking for someone's honey hole , just a start in the right direction.

With four points you should be able to draw a good tag. I would be looking at the East -northside unit. I've hunted that unit when able to draw. There is a roadclosure area in that unit that can get you away from other hunters and pressure. This area is north of John Day. There is a bull only hunt, either sex, and late cow hunt available. We have harvested many elk in this area, but be ready to work if you get one down!

We all think about getting in shape for that up coming big game hunt but what about your truck or suv? Just how much thought goes through your mind on getting it ready for that out of the way hunt that you are heading out on? The first thing that I usually do is check the tires.
