My very first Johnny Stewart caller played a 45rpm record and ran off D batteries. I went through alot of batteries. I'm betting you'll do the same. Nowadays the Johnny Stewart caller I use is rechargeable. Can call all day long and not run it down...get home and plug it in...good to go for the next round. It's also held up for several years. You might run into problems finding your stuff that can hold up to the use and abuse.

I use a Jhonny Stewart tape caller with a rechargeable battery, long range speaker, and extra speaker extension cord.

I've just got the new FX3 from FoxPro & have only used it once two nights ago. I did not see anything but was only out an hour trying to figure it out & listen to the different sounds in the field. I was told that Bass Pro Shops in Atlanta has Johnny Stewart digital callers on sale for $99 and they normally are $149. They come with sound cards and additional cards can be purchased.
