I caught this weasel in January . He killed six chickens before I caught him. They are extremely bold, this one was eating meat from my hand and finished the entire piece. He would have eaten the finger off my hand if I let him. It's a good thing these things are no bigger than they are. If one of these critters was as big as a dog and fought with a dog, the dog would die !!!!!!
I took him for a ride ( 4 miles) and released him. If I didn't have chickens I would have left him alone...They are great at reducing rodents on the farm , but he found the chickens to be a tastier meal !!!
I've seen quite a few while hunting in Maine. One day I was bow hunting and I set down behind a blow down overlooking a deer trail. While I was there a weasel scampered along the blow down and came within a few feet of me. I was in complete camo and he didn't even know I was there. I had to move so he would not climb on me. They are usually on the trail of something and they mean business. They will kill all the rats in a den and then take over the den.................They are excellent rodent control critters !
