We called in these nice spikes with our "Cow Girl and I Make Da Bull Crazy" Cow calls from Primos. We started the morning bugling and cow calling the herd and once the herd was close we started really calling alot with the cow calls and called the first spike in at 40 yrds and stoped him broadside with a cow girl call. My spike was just down hill from the first one and I ended up taking him at 30yrds quartering away. He fell where he stood! We guess there where 200 elk in this herd and we could have shot 350 class bulls if it where open! It's spike only where we hunt. After I shot mine I sneaked up the ridge and met my buddy's and we went back down where I shot mine and I told my friend there is another spike right down here! We snuck down and the spike was still standing right next to my dead spike and he drew back but right before he was going to release the spike turned away and he didnt have a shot. We called the spike back in but he wouldn't come to where we needed him to make a good shot. Nun the less, we almost had 3 spikes within an hour and a half! While we where dragging my elk up to that skid road there where still 15 elk walking around us including a masher 6 point bull. The next morning we went back to try and do the same hunt over again with a couple more guy's that needed a spike. Me and my buddy in the pic decided we would be the callers and help them get close. We ended up getting 3 spikes to come within shooting range but the guy's we where calling for didn't make it happen. If it all worked out, we would have got 5 elk in 2 days but that would have been to amazing. The funny thing is we hiked in the dark to this area we had never been before and all this happened! I am stoked an verry happy with how the hunt went. I cant wait to draw a big bull tag so I can call in the herd bull!
