Friday the 13th Buck
Wayne E. Helland Jr.
There was a misty rain with the wind blowing from the Northwest. It was a melancholy afternoon on Friday the 13th in October of 2006. It was supposed to be a dreary "bad luck" day. I abandoned my normal daily tree stand vigil. This was a perfect day to sneak though a cornfield where I knew a nice deer was making his home. With a light wind and the slight breeze I could be ultra quiet in the big buck bedding area.

Thanks Dad, and a Wall Hanger to End it All...
Paul Thein
I'm now 40-years old and I've been hunting a family farm since I've been a teenager fresh out of hunter's safety classes. Hunting is a family tradition for us. Our hunting party consists of cousins and close family friends. Over the years I have watched many of them bag the big whitetail wall hanger you dream of. Of course I can't complain and have done well on the family farm myself.
Padden's First Deer
Padden
I killed this deer in my pasture in Oklahoma. I am 9 years old and this is the first deer I have ever killed. She weighed 80 pounds. I got to shoot at her with my dad's 30-30. I tackled my dad and told him thank you for taking me hunting. Thanks Dad!
The Wisconsin Story Deer
Timothy Peters
I have hunted since I was 13 years old when my father sat me by a tree and left me. He told me not to move as he'd never be able to find me if I did. It sounds more horrible than it was as it was a public hunting area with a lot of hunting pressure. My father had left work at 12:00 o'clock on Friday, picked us two boys up from school and drove 200 miles.
The $20 Buck
Bob Mancuso
The Colorado Wildlife Federation sponsored a raffle for a Governors deer tag in the spring of 2001. I bought one ticket for twenty dollars figuring I was just donating to a good cause. Nobody was more surprised than me when I got the call congratulating me on winning the tag!
