Hunting With My Grandson
Clive King
My grandson Warwick has lived with us for most of his life, and his love of the bush and outdoors has been with him from a very early age. When he was 6 years old, he started to accompany me whenever I went wing-shooting, hunting or fishing. I taught him about the animals, tracking and how to handle and shoot with my Miroku lever-action .22. With time and practice he became quite a good shot, and I promised him that on his 12th birthday, if he worked hard at school, I would take him on his first hunt as a 'paying client' for an Impala and a Warthog. (Grandfather paying, of course!) Warwick had worked hard at school and his 80's and 90's report card was presented with pride and the question "So Granddad, when are we going hunting?"
The Thanksgiving Buck
Art Elmendorf
Late season hunting in the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York can often be as good as it gets. Cold snowy weather, combined with the rut, will get the big bucks moving every time.
African Safari
Ken Wilson
My family and I greatly enjoyed our two African safaris together. As you will recall, we liked the first safari so much that we booked the second one before the first was over! In fact, I would have booked a third safari, but I shot everything on the first two, had time for my son to do some hunting, and time for sightseeing with my wife and daughter.

Dangerous Game
Donnie Tyndall
Being from a family that loves to hunt is one of the things that make me about as lucky as any man can be. In our family we have many stories and accounts of events that happen while in the field. These stories always bring laughter and kindle fond memories of the times we have spent together, as a family. Some are from my older brother and father that go back as far as 50 years, and here is one that I have shared with no one till this day.
Mountain Lion Brian
Brian Williams
My mountain lion story began a long time ago when I was just a boy. I grew up in southern Oklahoma where I hunted coon, bobcats, squirrel, and rabbits with my dad, David K. Williams, our close friend "Cotton" Russell, and my uncle Mark Gillham, who were all hound men. I was fascinated with hounds.
An Elk Hunt to Remember
Jeff McKinney aka Hiker
After nearly thirty-minutes of glassing the elk that were bedded in the black timber on the ridge across the creek, I could finally see antlers on the bull I had been spying. From the look of things, he was a mature bull. After hunting hard for three days, covering many miles of up and down country, seeing hundreds of elk, I finally spotted a shooter. Now, all I had to do was get close enough to shoot. That wasn't going to be an easy task, as I has a good thousand yards to cover, five hundred of which were open country, with all those bedded elk eyes looking at me.
