Mandy's Mega Buck

My girlfriend just decided to start hunting about 3 weeks before the season. She shoots a bow and has shot a gun some but had never shown an interest in hunting. After getting her geared up at Gander Mountain and buying her a H&R Ultra Hunter in 243 we practiced and went hunting. She took to hunting right off and got her first deer in Franklin County, Virginia, 3 days into the season, a 4 pointer.

Photos of my piebald buck that I was able to take on opening day of general firearms season in Bedford County, Virginia. He is an 8 pointer, 22" wide outside, 20" inside and weighed about 180 pounds.
14 Point Southern Virginia Buck

It was opening day of general firearm season for deer. It was unusual that the hunt club had not run dogs through "my block" all day, and it was a perfect day to climb into one of my stands that evening. I have several physical problems relating to my spine and joints, but couldn't resist the temptation of a relaxing, seasonably comfortable afternoon hunt. I decided to get in one of my stands near the edge of a swamp, in mature oak trees.
Two Bucks at Once: Virginia Deer Hunt

I have been into outdoor activities my whole life; I guess you could call me a "country boy." While shooting sports are something I enjoy immensely, I have never really gotten into hunting big game. This year however, that changed.
Korean Pheasant Hunt
Elisse & Dan Clark
My husband and I hunted pheasant recently (March 2008) on Jeju Island, in Korea! Dan is US Army Retired, and had told me how he had hunted there when he was stationed in Korea many years ago... back when Jeju (or Cheju as it is sometimes spelled) was basically wilderness... Jeju Island is now a vacation paradise of 5-star resorts, but there is still hunting (even for foreign tourists!) at the Daeyoo Land Hunting Preserve! I was planning our very belated "Honeymoon" in Asia, and I was determined to finally get to go hunting with my husband!
