Minnesota Black Bear Hunt
Mary Jo Ralston
It was the 12th day of the season, and already I had spent over 24 hours in my stand. The Labor Day Monday opening day had made it difficult to get any extended time off, and I'd only been able to hunt 4 days. And the weather had not been very cooperative. I'd hunted in everything from 85+ degree heat wearing only thin cotton shorts and a tank beneath my camouflage netting to a 50 degree cold rain wearing several warm layers and a rain suit.
Minnesota Twin Albino Deer
Tim Roeschlein
These twin albino deer have been coming to my backyard feeder since they were fawns in 2006. They turned 2 years old this spring and still come to my feeder every day! I'm an avid deer hunter and harvesting albino deer in Minnesota is legal.
Korean Pheasant Hunt
Elisse & Dan Clark
My husband and I hunted pheasant recently (March 2008) on Jeju Island, in Korea! Dan is US Army Retired, and had told me how he had hunted there when he was stationed in Korea many years ago... back when Jeju (or Cheju as it is sometimes spelled) was basically wilderness... Jeju Island is now a vacation paradise of 5-star resorts, but there is still hunting (even for foreign tourists!) at the Daeyoo Land Hunting Preserve! I was planning our very belated "Honeymoon" in Asia, and I was determined to finally get to go hunting with my husband!
The Old Man and the Hound
Norm 'Leep' Leeper Jr.
Jack drove his old jeep down the dirt road carefully. Since no one lived along this road anymore but old Tom, the highway department seldom serviced it. He guessed it didn't really matter much as old Tom didn't drive much anymore. Perhaps once a month when his retirement check came in. Then he would come into town driving that old rickety truck and cash his check, buy some groceries and collect his mail.
First Minnesota Deer Hunt
Dan Conrad
It was 5:45 and my dad and I were on the way to our stand when I noticed that there were tracks leading into our stand. Finally, get to stand. Right around 6:15 I heard some brush moving to the left of me. About 15 minutes later I saw some horns moving and they weren't stopping. I grab my gun and line it up between two pine trees. As soon he got bewteen those two trees I lined the cross hairs on his shoulder and pulled the trigger.
Northern Minnesota Deer
Blake Torkelson
Blake Torkelson shot this 8-point buck on Sunday, November 4th, 2007, opening weekend in northern Minnesota. The buck walked out of the woods about 500 yards away and chased 4 does into another wooded area.
