Trophy Brown Bear for the Determined Hunter
On this first morning of our hunt, Jim and I climbed a bluff called Moose Hill. We saw a large dark bear in the berry flat across the river. We took the jet boat across the river to get a closer look at the bear. We made an unsuccessful stalk on the bear through the thick willows and alders. When we arrived back at the cabin we learned that Elia and Billy shot a bear late that evening. The bear was killed at the mouth of Bear Skin creek.
Tommy's Moose Hunt
Tommy drew a permit for a "youth only" hunt in Delta Junction Alaska. We hunted for 3 days, hiking approximately 5 miles per day prior to spotting this spike.
Jack's Record Alaska-Yukon Moose
Here is my ten year old son Jack Nelsen of Staples, MN. Jack shot this 255.5 B&C Alaska-Yukon bull moose this past September 2004. Jack’s moose was officially scored number two in the world by Rob Naplin of Park Rapids, MN. The bull had a 77 inch wide spread and was taken with one shot at 80 yards.
