2012 Griz Hunt
Critter

As we were sitting on the rock Brent said that there is a chocolate colored bear on the hill.  I looked through my binoculars and watched as he walked out of the brush and into the meadow and then he turned sideways.  “That’s a grizzly” I said as Brent was getting the spotting scope out of his pack.  That was on day eight of my 10 day grizzly hunt.

Learning Patience

This story is for anyone who closed the season empty handed. You are not alone, but it is said that good things come to those who wait.

Hunting Camp
Ed T.

Is there anything better? If it ain't family or Grandkids; I, for one, am not buying it. There's just something very special about a hunting camp, whether it be for deer, hogs, bear, or whatever. My very first deer hunts were done away from home in a camp with some very interesting characters. They were all around my Dad's age and to the man, always treated "Little Eddie" well enough. Actually they probably treated me extra good, remembering they way they talked to each other...lol.

Searching for Velvet on Barren Ground
Doug Humphreys

I watched as the Super Cub approach the grass strip in Delta Junction, Alaska.  Flaps down and low on the throttle the plane appeared to float more than fly.  I looked away from the plane to inspect my baggage one last time before the flurry of packing began.

Korean Pheasant Hunt
Elisse & Dan Clark
My husband and I hunted pheasant recently (March 2008) on Jeju Island, in Korea! Dan is US Army Retired, and had told me how he had hunted there when he was stationed in Korea many years ago... back when Jeju (or Cheju as it is sometimes spelled) was basically wilderness... Jeju Island is now a vacation paradise of 5-star resorts, but there is still hunting (even for foreign tourists!) at the Daeyoo Land Hunting Preserve! I was planning our very belated "Honeymoon" in Asia, and I was determined to finally get to go hunting with my husband!
Dall's Sheep Hunt
Lee Lawson
I was fascinated by the different species of wild sheep, and the white variety caught my eye. These beautiful animals intrigued me like no other animal. My dream was to, some day; go on a hunt for a trophy Dall's Sheep. They can be only hunted in Alaska or Canada, in very high mountain ranges, using a registered professional personal guide required by law. But that did not stop me from dreaming and investigating different outfitters each year.
Tonsina River Alaska Grizzly
Rick Strand
I caught this bruiser fighting with another grizzly in May of 2002. The skull came in about one and quarter inches short of going B&C. It had prime hide and, as you can see, the longest claws are nearly five inches in length.
GRIZ - Memoir of a Northern Hunt
Don Osterman
First of all let me say I never really thought about hunting a bear, black or grizzly. Then, 3 friends of mine, and I went to Alaska on a fishing trip. We seen bear everyday and really got the fever. I came home and started to write and call different guides in Alaska. Of course they all sounded great but after talking to George Siavelis of Aniak, Alaska I was sold and liked him right off. Booked my hunt 2 1/2 years in advance.
The Giants of Last Day Lake
John Hutchins, edited by BGH
This is the story of my trip to Alaska where I hunted moose and brown bear with George Siavelis of Aniak Alaska. In late August of 1995, I flew to Aniak via Anchorage. In Aniak, I was met by one of George's associates who placed me on a float plane flight into the wilderness of Alaska. After the plane landed on an unnamed lake I met George face to face and our hunting adventure began.
Alaska Caribou Hunt
Kent Keller
While hunting in Alaska during September of 2002, I was 150 miles above the Arctic Circle. A band of 24 Bulls passed within 30 yards of me, giving me ample time to choose my trophy.
