If you want to hear a crazy story just listen to this. I was in my ground blind on opening day in Texas November 1, 2008 when this guy came out around 6:30 a.m. and came to my feeder where there were already several does and a small buck. He paid no attention to any of them and started to eat corn and nibble on raspberry flavered blocks. I can't say why I didn't shoot him right away, maybe temporarily insane. I watched this deer for 1 hour before I harvested him. One time he started to leave and jumped out of fenced feeder and I got him to come back when I remotely activated the feeder again. He returned for 30 more min. and while he was there I decided to try my trail cam remote on him when he walked in front of the camera a couple of times, still not planning to shoot him. Not until he left again and came my way did I make the decision to take him. He is my largest ever in 30 years! He could have left many times and never been seen by me again, CRAZY or what?

Reverse Range Before you get up to follow the animal after the shot, make sure you have the range from where you shot, to the animal. And mark the spot where you 'shot' from. In open terrain it may indeed be necessary to reverse-range to your shooting position to find the animal or a blood trail.
