10 Point South Carolina Deer
by Claude W. 'Bubba' Powers

I was able to take this 10 point deer at the McBee National Wildlife Refuge on November 2, 2007. The deer weighed 203 lbs and had an inside spread of 16 inches. I had seen this deer three times during the 2006 hunting season but did not get a shot. The first day of the opening gun hunt allowed me to take him. It was a 178 yard shot late in the afternoon. My first hunt of 2007, what a way to start my season!

However, looking at a deer is the same as staring at a deer sometimes they never know you are there and other times they look right at you and stare back.
