Wyoming Moose, Bighorn, Mtn Goat Apps Due Feb 29th
Wyoming Game and Fish

Posted on: 02/20/08 [Comments?]

Resident and nonresident hunters interested in applying for moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goat licenses need to have their applications in to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department's Cheyenne office by 5 p.m. Feb. 29. The deadline to apply for the wild bison priority list is also Feb. 29.

Applications can be made either on line through the Game and Fish Web site gf.state.wy.us or through regular mail as long as they arrive at the Cheyenne office by the prescribed deadline date. Applications are also available on line or by calling (307) 777-4600. For hunters interested only in purchasing a preference point, the application period is July 1 through Sept. 30.

Hunters interested in applying for wild bison will note that the Feb. 29 deadline is for a drawing to be placed on a priority list. Hunters may apply to be placed on priority lists for either male or female wild bison. When bison are available in the hunt area, persons with the lowest numbers on the list are notified and then given an opportunity to purchase a license. If the person declines, the next person on the list is notified. Application fee to be placed on the priority list is $11 resident and $20 for nonresidents. As mentioned, the bison hunt is dependent on bison moving into the hunt area.

The Curse of Poncho: Colorado Mule Deer Hunt
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town, you remember the lyrics to that old 80's song. Ok, maybe my age is starting to show. Just like every previous Fall, a bachelor group of bucks would show up in the hay fields around the first week of August. They would number anywhere from twelve to twenty-six bucks and range from dink spikers to mature 180+ class big daddy rabbits. We would start patterning them and setting our blinds and stands in anticipation of the archery opener in late August.
