Washington DFW Meeting May 23

Several Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) management initiatives will be discussed during a Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting May 23 in Olympia.

The commission, which sets policy for WDFW, is scheduled to begin its meeting at 10 a.m. in room 172 of the Natural Resources Building, 1111 Washington Street S.E.

During the one-day meeting, the commission will hear updates on the department's strategic plan; an upcoming citizen survey; improvements in WDFW’s capital asset management; the annual salmon season-setting process; and hunting co-management with treaty tribes.

My first morning out this year found myself on a vantage point I'd been to many times in the past, picking apart the sagebrush and rocks in an attempt to find the greatest western iconic trophy, the mule deer.
