License Fees to Increase
Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries

Posted on: 06/23/06 [Comments?]

At their June meeting the Board of Game and Inland Fisheries approved a $5 increase in fees for hunting, fishing and trapping licenses that will go into effect July 1, 2006. Special youth licenses, however, will not see an increase. In addition, special one-day fee fishing permits will not increase until January 1, 2007, and will only go from $3.50 to $5.50.

A list of specific licenses and the new fees can be viewed on the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries Web site at www.dgif.virginia.gov by clicking on "License Fee Increases Effective July 1, 2006" on the left sidebar.

License fees had not been increased since 1988. The much-needed increase will offset rising personnel and operations costs.

In addition, effective July 1, 2006, the license agent fee will increase from 50 cents to one dollar.

Lower Michigan Wild Boar Hunt
On October 12th, 2008 I had the pleasure of going on a Russian Wild Boar hunt for disabled hunters in lower Michigan. I used a 50 cal. blackpowder rifle. It was a once in a lifetime hunt for me, it was wonderful. I had a great time with the whole hunt.
