Flaming Gorge Dam

Description:
Flaming Gorge Dam was built by the Bureau of Reclamation as part of the Colorado River Storage project.The dam is a concrete thin arch structure with a maximum height of 502 feet and a crest length of 1,285 feet. Free guided tours will cover the top of the dam and overlooks. They leave from the visitors center on a regular schedule with a limit of 20 people per tour. The visitors center is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Underwater diving is no longer permitted in the area of the dam and visitor center. Flaming Gorge Dam and Reservoir are part of the Colorado River Storage Project.

Directions:
The dam is located 43 miles north of Vernal, Utah. From Vernal take State Highway 44 to highway 373, head north to the dam.
