South Dakota Mountain Lion Season Ends Early
South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks

Posted on: 11/26/07 [Comments?]

South Dakota's third mountain lion season has ended.

The season was set to run until Dec. 31 or until 35 lions or 15 female lions had been harvested. The season ended on Friday, Nov. 23, with the harvest of a 15th female lion in the central Black Hills. This year's total harvest was 18 lions, three males and 15 females.

A change in the regulations for the mountain lion hunting season this year placed the entire state in one unit, scrapping the old Black Hills and Prairie units. That change, along with the meeting of the female subquota of lions, means that the season has now closed statewide.

Bowhunting Success in Wisconsin
My buck was shot in Sauk county Wisconsin; it was during the 2006 bowhunting season. It was early October and the rut had not started yet. He presented me with about a 20 yard shot quartering away in a cut hay field. He weighed 250 lbs and has 9 points scoring 130 B/C.
