Saskatchewan Big Game Draw Apps Due June 1
Saskatchewan Environment

Posted on: 05/18/09 [Comments?]

The deadline for Big Game Draw applications is nearing. Hunters wanting to hunt certain big game species this fall need to get their applications in before June 1, 2009.

Before you start filling out your application (either online or, for one more year only, using the paper application process), please be aware there have been some important changes for the 2009 Draw program.

In particular, anyone wanting to hunt mule deer in 2009 must apply for a licence through the Big Game Draw process. Hunters need to be aware that there will be no draw for either-sex mule deer licences in zones 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 24, 26, 29, 43, 45, 46 and 47.

Those who wish to hunt either-sex mule deer in these zones must apply for antlerless mule deer for these zones through the Big Game Draw. To be eligible to purchase an either-sex mule deer licence, a hunter must submit two antlerless mule deer heads from the same zone for chronic wasting disease testing [the Earn-a-Buck program].

Please check the 2009 Hunters' and Trappers' Guide or visit our website at www.environment.gov.sk.ca for more details on the Big Game Draw for 2009.
