Two men from Saskatoon and one from Muenster were recently fined a total of $3500 after pleading guilty to several charges under the province's Wildlife Act.

An anonymous call to the Turn In Poachers hotline on November 29th, 2002 initiated an investigation by Saskatchewan Environment conservation officers that resulted in the three hunters being charged. The charges included over limit hunting of deer, providing false information, carrying another person's licence and allowing someone else to use a licence.

Along with the fines, one of the poachers has been prohibited from obtaining a hunting licence for two years. The other two have been prohibited from obtaining a licence for one year.

Conservation Officer Doug Lucyshyn says while most hunters in the province respect the province's game laws, some try to get around the system designed to protect and preserve our natural resources and environment. "Our wildlife and fisheries managers appreciate the support they get from hunters, anglers and the public helping us protect these resources," Lucyshyn said.

Lucyshyn encourages anyone who sees or suspects violations of the province's hunting, fishing or environmental laws to call the nearest conservation officer or to report them through the province's 24-hour Turn In Poachers (TIP) line at 1-800-667-7561.

Julie and Tom's Texas Pig Hunt
When Julie, my wife, over heard me talking with a hunting buddy about going hog hunting in Texas she expressed an interest in going also. Julie bird hunts with me all the time but never expressed an interest in bigger game. I jumped at the chance to get her ready for our Texas hog hunt.
