The Department of Environmental Management's Division of Fish and Wildlife has released preliminary deer hunting figures for the 2005-2006 deer hunting seasons. Increased Coyote Sightings 02/13/03
In response to an increasing number of calls from people who have sighted coyotes and are concerned about them, the Department of Environmental Management's Division of Fish and Wildlife advises Rhode Islanders that it is not unusual at this time of year to see coyotes active during daylight hours. Coyotes inhabit all communities in Rhode Island, except Block Island.
Emergency CWD Regulations Expanded 12/30/02
The Department of Environmental Management has filed emergency regulations expanding the state's ban on the importation of cervids - namely deer and elk - and their parts from the state and the release into the wild of any captive or wild cervid. The action has been taken in an effort to prevent the introduction of Chronic Wasting Disease into the state.

Missouri (Cow Pie!) Turkey Hunt I have never had to work so hard for a turkey. While walking out of a small patch of open woods and into the field, I watched a turkey head running across the field away from me; I reminded myself I needed to get my head in the game. About two steps later is when I saw the turkeys, one gobbler in full strut and two others on the other side of the fence I was walking beside, about 100 yards essentially directly in front of me.
