Wildlife Protection Officers Put an End to Major Poaching Activities 11/12/04
Wildlife protection officers from the ministère des Ressources naturelles, de la Faune et des Parcs du Québec (MRNFP) put an end to illegal hunting and fishing practices by individuals active in Abitibi and in the James Bay region as well as in Nunavik in Nord-du-Québec. [Comments?]
Permit Required to Import Canadian Hunter-Harvested Game Meat 08/08/03
Hunters can immediately begin bringing wild ruminant meat products intended for their personal use into the United States, but will need a “Veterinary Services Special Permit for the Importation of Hunter-Harvested Wild Ruminant Meat,” along with one of the following: a valid Canadian export certificate for game meat, or a copy of a valid hunting license or a valid hunting tag. Northern Quebec Outfitter Under Investigation 01/22/03
James Bay Adventures Incorporated (JBA) of Northern Quebec Canada has come under investigation by the Quebec Provincial Police after as many as 40 hunters have complained of unacceptable service. Currently there are at least 50 hunters that have formally complained to the Quebec Outfitters Association (QOA) of mis-booked hunts. The nature and number of complaints caused the QOA board to revoke JBA's membership in December of 2002. [1 Comment]
Argentina Bird Hunt Catches Heat 03/01/02
This is bird hunting news; however the story has caught some attention. Quebec's population minister recently admitted to taking 18,000 doves and pigeons during a six day hunting trip to Argentina with eight other hunters. The Canada.com story notes the harvest has caught criticism in Canada.
