Quebec Hunters Asked to Donate to Cree Communities
Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources

Posted on: 09/29/08 [Comments?]

The Ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune (MRNF), Nord-du-Québec region, invites hunters to submit to the Department on a voluntary basis the pelts and antlers of moose bagged during the sport hunting season for use for handicraft purposes by the Cree communities present on its territory.

The aim of this initiative is to maximize the use of these anatomical parts which, in most cases, end up in landfill sites. The Direction de la protection de la faune is collaborating in this collection on behalf of the Cree communities having expressed an interest in this operation.

Hunters will be free to visit at any time the office of the Direction de la protection de la faune located at 951, boulevard Hamel, in Chibougamau. They will be able to leave their moose pelts and antlers in a box that is available for this purpose outside the office, without further formality.

The Direction de la protection de la faune du Nord-du-Québec and the Cree communities would like to thank all hunters who kindly agree to contribute to this harvest operation.

Big Oregon Roosevelt Elk
It was 4:45 am on the Oregon coast this last November, and we are all getting ready to head out and position ourselves in spots that we think may put us in the best position to track down the herd of elk that came out of our fields the night before. We'd seen a group of about 30 head breaking into smaller groups and heading out of the fields and into the woods no less then 5 minutes before we were ready to leave.
