Wild Turkey Introduction Turned Down 12/15/04
The province has decided not to approve the introduction of wild turkeys to Nova Scotia at this time. In 2001, the Nova Scotia chapter of the National Wild Turkey
Federation submitted a proposal to the province seeking approval
to introduce wild turkeys to the area. Wild turkeys are not

Antlerless Deer Draw Application Line Opens 07/15/04
The telephone line to apply for an antlerless deer hunting stamp officially opens at 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, Natural
Resources Minister Richard Hurlburt announced. This year, 5,250 permits are available for the hunt. That is the lowest number of permits issued since the deer management zone system was implemented in 1998. [Comments?]

Habitat Conservation Projects Approved 06/29/04
Thirteen wildlife conservation projects are approved for funding
under the Habitat Conservation Fund, Natural Resources Minister
Richard Hurlburt announced June 22. The money for the fund
is generated through the required purchase of a $2 wildlife
habitat stamp on all hunting licenses in Nova Scotia.

Hunters Enjoy Successful Season in 2003 05/05/04
Nova Scotia hunters had a safe hunting season in 2003, Natural
Resources Minister Richard Hurlburt announced in April. "With close to 50,000 hunters in the woods last fall, there was not one firearm-related accident reported."

Annual Moose License Lottery 05/04/04

Permit Required to Import Canadian Hunter-Harvested Game Meat 08/08/03
Hunters can immediately begin bringing wild ruminant meat products intended for their personal use into the United States, but will need a “Veterinary Services Special Permit for the Importation of Hunter-Harvested Wild Ruminant Meat,” along with one of the following: a valid Canadian export certificate for game meat, or a copy of a valid hunting license or a valid hunting tag. Antlerless Deer Draw Application Line Opens 07/21/03
Hunters can call 1-900-565-DEER (3337) any day of the week, 24
hours a day to apply for a stamp. The line is open until midnight
on Friday, Aug. 29. As in previous years, a non-refundable
application fee of $6.90 will be charged to the telephone bill of

Black Bear Sightings High This Year 06/20/03
"We have been receiving a significant number of calls this spring
concerning bears," said Natural Resources Minister Tim Olive.
"Because of the cool, wet weather this year, the bears have not
