Big Game Report Line in North Carolina will be Upgraded
North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission

Posted on: 12/20/06 [Comments?]

For a few hours on Sunday, Dec. 31, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission toll free phone line (1-800-I-GOT-ONE ) and the online report form www.ncwildlife.org for reporting a big game harvest will be unavailable while the agency's computer systems are upgraded.

Both the online and toll free phone methods of registering a big game harvest will be inaccessible from approximately noon until 4 p.m. on Dec. 31.

"When someone calls the 800 number they will receive a message that the system is down and that they need to go to the nearest wildlife cooperative agent to register their harvest," said David Butts, an information technology specialist with the Commission. "A successful hunter who gets a deer on Saturday evening will need to register it with a wildlife cooperative agent during this down time."

As a reminder, hunters have 24 hours to report a big game harvest.

Georgia Hog Hunt Success
My first hog hunt was truly a day I will never forget. It was Saturday January 17, 2009 and, according to The Weather Channel, the coldest it's been in our area in three years. We were camping on the Altamaha River with a group of friends. I was wearing several layers of clothing, but it was still very cold. My husband and I walked for a couple of hours in the morning and only saw one raccoon although we saw lots of sign that hogs were in the area.
