2006-07 Big Game Licence Draw Completed 05/30/06
Clyde Jackman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, today announced that the 2006 big game draw for moose and caribou licences has been completed. In total 26,340 moose licences and 4,085 caribou licences are available. Caribou quotas, when compared to the 2006-07 Hunting and Trapping Guide, were decreased by 550 additional licences. Department Seeking Information about Moose Snaring Incidents 05/15/06

Department of Natural Resources are asking for the public’s assistance
in apprehending the person or persons responsible for setting snares

Major Poaching Ring Busted Along the Southwest Coast 05/06/05
Conservation officers from the Department of Natural Resources, under the direction of the Special Investigations Unit and along with the Canadian Wildlife Service, busted on Wednesday, April 27, a major organized migratory bird poaching ring that was operating in the towns of Port aux Basques and Rose Blanche. Hunters Charged Under Endangered Species Act 12/16/04
In provincial court in Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Thursday, November 18, 2004, three hunters from Quebec were convicted of killing Red Wine Woodland Caribou - a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. The charges result from the incident of April 10, 2003, at which time conservation officers with the Department of Natural Resources seized 14 animals. [Comments?]
Jessica's Colorado Cow Elk Hunt We went hunting this fall for elk and although we had a great time, we came home without fulfilled tags. I had one tag that was good until December 31 so two days after Christmas, Dad took me past Craig, past Maybell, and even past Sunbeam to 6 miles from the Utah border where the Lord saw fit to fulfill a dream. We saw a herd of about 200 and I had never ever seen so many elk!
