New Brunswick Antlerless Deer Tags Drawn
New Brunswick Natural Resources

Posted on: 08/25/08 [Comments?]

The results of the 2008 antlerless deer tag draw were released August 15th by the Department of Natural Resources.

A total of 5,000 New Brunswick hunters had their names selected in a random, computerized draw for antlerless deer validation stickers. The successful applicants will be notified by mail, and they should receive their stickers by the end of September.

Of the 12,882 New Brunswick residents who applied for antlerless deer permits, 38.8 per cent were successful. Applicants can determine if they are eligible to receive a validation sticker by checking the last two digits of their 2008 resident deer-hunting licence number with the two-digit numbers listed under the wildlife management zone in which the hunter applied.

Antlerless deer sticker holders may harvest a deer of either gender within the wildlife management zone designated on their tag, or an antlered deer in any area of the province that is open for the deer-hunting season.

Only one deer may be harvested by each licensed hunter. Those applicants not selected in the antlerless deer tag draw will be limited to hunting antlered deer only during the 2008 deer season.

Northern New Brunswick wildlife management zones 3, 4, 5, and 9 remain closed for deer hunting during the 2008 season. Hunters are reminded that deer harvested in open zones must be registered before entering closed zones.

Wildlife management zones 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 19 and 25 are open for antlered deer hunting only. Antlerless deer harvested in zones open for antlerless deer hunting must be registered before entering wildlife management zones 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 19 and 25.

Applicants with Internet access may check their draw success by visiting the Department of Natural Resources website at www.gnb.ca/naturalresources.

Ontario Turkey Hunting Success
I'm a new Hunter at 44 years and this was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I went out Turkey hunting and I was out about three times, outside a little town in midwestern Ontario Canada. I went and put a decoy about 20 yards in front of me and sat beside a small tree the sun was just coming up, and I sat for about 30 minutes, never heard or seen anything so I got up and moved my decoy walked up and down the field, went and sat back down again, called a couple time and nothing.
