Draw Deadline for Bobcat Tags
New Brunswick Natural Resources

Posted on: 09/13/05 [Comments?]

New Brunswick residents interested in trapping bobcat have until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, to enter the draw for bobcat tags.

Application cards and fact sheets are available at all Service New Brunswick and Department of Natural Resources offices.

Information concerning the draw is also available online at: http://www.gnb.ca/0078/fw/BobcatFactSheet-e.pdf.

Applicants must purchase a 2004-2005 fur harvester's licence before entering the draw for bobcat tags. Wildlife management zones 1 through 6, 9, 26 and 27 do not have tags available for bobcat.

The computerized draw will take place in late October and successful applicants will be notified by mail.

The bobcat tag quota system is designed for conservation purposes, helping New Brunswick meet international management obligations and to provide an opportunity to New Brunswickers to harvest the surplus of bobcat that would normally die from starvation and vehicle collisions.

520 Lb Manitoba Black Bear
Pastor Duane Vanderklok from Rapid City, Michigan took this 520 pound black bear - just over 7 feet- skull measured over 21 inches. Luck was on his side no doubt! There was a sow on the bait and he came chasing after her. Perfect shot -- the bear went about 20 yards. This is the second Booner taken this past spring in Manitoba with Hastings Bros. Outfitters.
