Hunters who want to learn more about Nevada's big game management programs and the tag application process can get what they are looking for at free tag application workshops hosted by the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW).

For Las Vegas, the workshop is scheduled for 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 26 in room 4401 of the Grant Sawyer Building, 555 E. Washington Ave (and Las Vegas Blvd.) In the Reno area, the workshop is set for Thursday, March 27 from 6-9 p.m. in the Nevada Department of Wildlife Conference Room at 1100 Valley Road.

NDOW representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the tag allocation process and explain where hunters can find harvest data, draw odds and other information that can help in the application process. Reservations are not required, but interested parties can call (702) 486-5127, ext 3501 (Las Vegas) or (775) 688-1559 (Reno) for more information.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) protects, restores and manages fish and wildlife, and promotes fishing, hunting, and boating safety. NDOW's wildlife and habitat conservation efforts are primarily funded by sportsmen’s license and conservation fees and a federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear. Support wildlife and habitat conservation in Nevada by purchasing a hunting, fishing, or combination license. For more information, visit www.ndow.org.

Saskatchewan Black Bear Bowhunt
Back in 1996, my Uncle Ron Schira, noticed that I was very interested in hunting. I was 14 soon to be 15 years old. I had hunted with rifles and shotguns since I was 12 with my dad. But never with a bow. I found it amazing that most of the trophies hanging in my uncles houses were taken at under 25 yards with a bow. I convinced my mother to buy me a bow with some money my grandmother had given us for Christmas.
