Nevada DOW Offers Reward for Info on Poached Ducks
Nevada Department of Wildlife

Posted on: 03/26/08 [Comments?]

Nevada Department of Wildlife game wardens are seeking any tips or information on fourteen ducks found killed and left to waste near Gardnerville Ranchos on March 12th.

None of the ducks were field cleaned and several were still attached to a duck strap that was also abandoned.

"We need the public's help in cases like these," said Reid Varble, the game warden stationed in Gardnerville. "This crime really disgusts me. There is no reason to let meat rot and take these birds from sportsmen and taxpayers." Operation Game Thief (OGT) is offering a reward of $500 for information on this crime. Anyone with information can contact OGT at (800) 992-3030. Calls will remain anonymous.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) protects, restores and manages fish and wildlife, promotes fishing, hunting, and boating safety. NDOW's wildlife and habitat conservation efforts are primarily funded by sportsmen's license and conservation fees and a federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear. Support wildlife and habitat conservation in Nevada by purchasing a hunting, fishing, or combination license. For more information, visit www.ndow.org.

Archery Hunt in August's Sweltering Heat
As the mercury steadily rose outside it was easily 10 degrees higher in the blind, I was tucked in awaiting the arrival of thirsty antelope. The hotter it got the more uncomfortable it became inside the blind which now was turning out to be a sweat box. I'm not really sure, but while inside that 70x70x90 sweat box a buddy of mine texted me telling me it was 92 degrees out. Not sure but I don't really think he was simply informing me of the fact more so than getting a little enjoyment out of the misery I'd intentionally placed myself in.
